Will Viewers Give Heroes Another Chance?

The third season of Heroes debuted Monday September 22, 2008 to less than spectacular ratings.  Given, season premiers can be dicey, with so many new and returning favorites cluttering up the landscape.  This is one reason Fox - and this season The CW - have taken to jumping the gun and premiering their series' before the pack.  Regardless, Heroes' Monday debut ratings of 6.1 rating/9 share in its first hour, and a drop to a 5.6/9 in its second hour marked the first time the series dropped below the 6.0 rating mark, giving the show a new all-time low.

Heroes debuted in September of 2006 to startling numbers and much fan acclaim.  "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World" became the hallmark and catch-phrase by which the show was known and which brought viewers in by the millions.  But a difficult second season marred by convoluted plot, the introduction of too many new characters at the expense of alread-loved ones, and the writers' strike may have taken their toll.

Can Heroes rise again to overcome the challanges of a troubled second season and a lack-luster third season premier?  If anyone can, I betting on the heroes.

I have read elsewhere that the overnights don't mean as much as they used to-particularly with a show that's as TIVO'd as often as Heroes is. Hopefully, once all that gets taken into account, things'll look better....

Best wishes,
