Horror movies have always been a staple in Hollywood, each offering snapped up by a cult following of movie goers. Then in 1996, Scream brought the horror movie to a wider audience when David Arquette, Courtney Cox (in the midst of her Friends fame) and Neve Campbell (Party of Five) made the leap. Suddenly making horror films was hip and many a young star and starlet jumped on board.
So, what do you think your favorite Whedonverse alumni was doing during season breaks of Buffy, Angel and Firefly? Many made their fair share of horror movies, and now their work is going to pay off dividends for Whedon fans wanting a good scare this Halloween! Take a look at our top picks for the scariest of the scary bunch, as well as our list of somewhat scary to downright bad horror offerings featuring your favorite Whedon actors.

by MaidenGreen on October 21, 2009, 08:28:00 PM Halloween is only a couple weeks away, and with the scary season comes monster movies, ghoul sightings and haunted houses. It also prompts us to remember some of the time-honored classic horror figures, many of whom Joss Whedon gave new life and depth.
Werewolves are one of the most ancient of the horror creatures. Tied in closely with werewolves is the myth of shapeshifters; those who can change from human to wolf in a seamless shifting of forms. This shifting is known as Lycanthropy, the transformation of a human into another creature, most often in lore as a wolf, usually accomplished with the help of a charm or a potion. More often lore postulated that the change from human to werewolf is involuntary.
While the Werewolf has been popular on the big screen, it has not been absent from the small screen. Whedonage looks at five of the most notable Werewolves in television history!

by Simon on July 20, 2008, 11:33:00 PM Thirteen minutes into the live chat with Felicia Day, something horrible started to happen. Just after introductions, and as the first question was about to be asked, everything came to a sudden, silent halt. Felicia asked, "Am I lagging and not seeing anything scrolling or is no one talking?" It was almost as if some sort of freeze ray had been aimed at the site.
Moments later, WhedonAge crashed, and visitors were greeted with an ominous warning:
Patient Internet warrior that she is, Felicia handled the brief outage with aplomb, and stuck around past her scheduled time to chat with fans of her work.

| "Do you know what's a good day to break up with somebody? Any day besides Valentine's Day! I mean, what, were you running low on dramatic irony?" |
| Xander Harris, "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" |
On February 14, 2004, viewers of ANGEL, Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt's spin-off to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, received an upsetting Valentine's surprise: the cancellation of their favored series. In response, fans from around the world rallied, and in concerted effort with various online campaigns made themselves known. Activists bought space in trade magazines and on traveling billboards; sent candies, flowers and bottles of hair gel to the networks; they gave blood and donated to food drives-- all to show their support for a TV series the WB claimed couldn't find a large enough audience. The network brass attempted to appease the fans by holding out the promise of stand-alone movies centered on ANGEL and Buffy characters, and hinted that the development was close to fruition.
