In our ongoing exploration of the cast of Joss Whedon's new adventure, Dollhouse, we meet a fairly new face to acting; Enver Gjokaj.   A rising star, Gjokaj has already had a steady career in the theater and TV.  His first feature film role was in 2007's Spinning the Butter alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Beau Bridges.  Enver attended college at the University of California at Berkley, and graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts from the Tisch School of Arts at NYU.   Enver divides his time between New York and LA, and has been very active in the theater scene, performing on stage in New York, Berkley, Boston, and San Francisco in several notable companies including the Beckett Theater and Julie Morgan Center for the Arts.

Currently, Whedon fans can glimpe Enver in the feature film, The Express, airing in theaters now.  The Express is a drama based on the life of college football hero Ernie Davis, the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy.  Gjokaj appears as Dave Sarette, the Syracuse National Champion Quarterback.  The film features Dennis Quaid, Rob Brown, and Charles S. Dutton among others.  Not a bad way to kick your career into gear!

Dollhouse is about a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, and languages for different assignment.  These assignments can very depending on the need of the buyer.  Enver has been cast as one of the dolls, a young man named Victor.  After every assignment, his mind is wiped and he is returned to the dollhouse until he is needed once more.  At the recent Fox Eco-Casino Party, Gjokaj told E!Online that he knew Victor's back-story, who he was before he signed on to be an Active for five years.

"I do know who [I] was before, and it's awesome, totally awesome," Enver enthuses.  "I was just standing on the set and Joss said, 'Hey, did I ever tell you what your background is?' and I was like, 'Uh, no, you have not told me what my background is, and I would love to know that,' and he was like, 'Oh, it's this and this,' and I just about crapped my pants."

While Enver may know the mysterious past of Victor, we must wait until January 2009 to discover just what made Enver Gjokaj so excited.  In the meantime, here are some films in which you can see Enver and get to know him before Dollhouse debuts!

Interesting Trivia:
* Was a semi finalist for the Tisch school's Vilar Global Fellows Program, which is modeled after the Rhodes Scholar program.
* Has a small feature in the September 2008 issue of Nylon magazine.
* Gjokaj is an Albanian surname.
