Hi, new and old folks!
We've recently been expanding here, and restructuring behind the scenes-- and so, are putting the call out for Whedon fans who'd like to get more involved in the day-to-day operations of the site.
Have you looked at WhedonAge and said, "It's nice, but I could make it better?" Or have you wanted to see some things included that aren't currently available?
If you've got the time, interest and abilities, we'd love to have you volunteer as a "WhedonAge Director."
We're also seeking those interested in helping out on a smaller scale, by being regular "news contributors", or by putting together occasional graphics, video or audio for the site.
Directorships are available in:
*
News - lead the news gathering, by assigning stories, edit and organize the news functions; set up interviews and event reports.
*
Media - communicate with press, do promotions and raise site visibility;
*
Site Development - improve the function and guide future development of the Website (technical Web skills required)
*
Membership - retain and improve membership; work with the Activities, Outreach, and Site Development Directors to help make the site more enjoyable and easy-to-use.
So what are the benefits? You'll:
* Get a nifty new title, along with extra privileges on the site, and access to additional discussion forums;
* Be able to choose to have an @whedonage.com address, if you want;
* Get a say in the direction of the site, and its management;
* Build bonds with a great group of fellow fans;
* Gain experience in aspects of running a web site by trying out things you might not get a chance to otherwise;
* Plus: have a peek at occasional insider info before anyone else.
And what's expected? * Basic-to-advanced knowledge of Internet functions, and usage of this site.
* A few hours a week for site activities (ok, maybe more than a few... but if you're already here, why not use your time constructively?)
* Having a particular skill or interest in online communications (AKA that fancy-schmancy "new media" thing);
* Most importantly, an enthusiasm to learn new and fun stuff in a group environment.
We hold regular online chats with other Directors to discuss current events and planning/activities for the site.
All directors have moderation authority, and are are encouraged to use these privileges to keep the forums running orderly; so a background in moderating discussion forums is helpful, but not necessary.
Please message myself or
MaidenGreen, and we'll send you on a short questionnaire to get a better idea about your interests and experience.
